MODERN DANCE CLASSES
Our modern dance classes are suitable for all levels – from the complete beginner to the experienced dancer looking for more of a challenge.
In our Modern Dance Classes, you will learn to move in a creative, freeing and graceful way, while also transforming your posture and balance and improving your fitness. Our Modern Dance Beginners lesson builds up from simple steps and techniques to fully formed routines. It's fast and fun, but the teaching style is fully supportive and suitable for people with little or no dance experience.
All our Modern, classes follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Syllabi.
Established in 1904, the ISTD is the largest and one of the most influential dance organisations and leading examination boards in the world.
We offer the graded syllabus in modern, beginning at Primary level, and continuing through Grades 1-6 which are now accredited by the QCA. (Class Timetable)
All levels of the Vocational grades are accredited by the QCA for all three syllabi, and form a cohesive continuation from the Grades.
ISTD examinations are held annually, although not compulsory. These examinations, conducted by the country’s most respected authority in the field, are important in cultivating a sense of achievement amongst the children and students, offering a great reward as they progress through the grades. The examination success rate has, and still is exceptionally high at Hitchin School of Dance. Some 95% of our pupils have gained distinctions and merit grades from ISTD
